How to Make
Your Bathroom Look Brand New
We want our home to represent us, to make an impact. Most of
the times, the living room is a priority. We also take extra
care of our bedroom, and our kitchen. Not so much attention
is paid to our bathroom. We look at it as a utilitarian
space, a place of little importance. That’s not necessarily
true. It’s the first place we go when we wake up in the
morning, and many times end it with a long relaxing bath.
The bathroom deserves more of your attention... We’ll tell
you just how you can make it look fabulous without breaking
the bank. Here are a few helpful tips that will make your
bathroom look right out of a decorating magazine.
Paint all the walls, even the ceiling. Use strong, rich
colors. Many people think that just because it’s a small
room, you have to use light colors and plenty of mirrors to
make it look bigger. That’s just a myth. Bold, rich colors
look just as good in a small space.
Hide all the cosmetics that clutter the room. Sure, it’s
always helpful to have that moisturizer close to the sink,
not to mention how important it is for the guys to keep the
shaving kit near by. But all these cosmetics and kick knacks
make the bathroom look messy. Get some nice storage boxes or
trunks. Not only can they add an unexpected design element
to your room, but they are also a great way of storing
things and get rid of the messy look. Store all the
cosmetics and unnecessary knick knacks in trunks and storage
boxes, and your bathroom will look a lot spacious and tidy.
Make the mirror a statement piece by decorating it. It would
be a shame not to transform the little space and decorating
element you have, into focal points. Even if the mirror
already has a frame or not, there’s always a way of
improving it’s look. For a more glamorous look, you can glue
some crystals to it, and feel like a celebrity. For a more
formal look, simulate a real wood frame by adding lumber. If
you have children, let them get creative and draw some
flowers on the edges of the mirror or add some stickers of
cartoon characters. All you need to give your mirror a fancy
look is creativity and imagination.
Give your cabinets a new look. Give your cabinets a totally
new look, and you’re set for the next 2, 3 years. Again, you
can use your imagination and create any kind of look you
want. If you’re a fan of a sophisticated, elegant look, then
paint them back. If you’re planning on giving your bathroom
a country look, just use some white paint and a sponge, and
get that used look. Be bold and use more colors, paint some
cabinet doors black, others white, or any other color
combination you like. The only thing you have to do is to
clean the cabinets well before painting, use a special
primer (BIN would be good).
Now that you are finished with the more difficult tasks, you
can get to the easy and more pleasant part of the
redecoration: the last touch-ups. Buy little details, but
with an impact. Candles of any color are always a good
choice. Just imagine getting home after a long day of work
and getting into a hot bath and relax by candle light.
Shells are also a nice touch, if you want to achieve that
nautical feel and bring back the sea in your house. To get a
more personal touch, add some pictures in dollar store
frames. Maybe a nice getaway place you’d like to see while
you relax in the bathtub. Change the shower curtain to a
trendier one, or get some plants. Anything you’d like and
feel will relax you its welcome. Now that you made you made
your bathroom a welcoming, relaxing space, treat yourself to
a nice hot bath. Enjoy!
